On April 10th IPMA, the international project management association, honours extraordinary project managers, project teams and/or project organisations with multiple awards. One of them is for the outstanding contribution for implementing Diversity in Project Management (DiPM) by demonstrating excellence in diversity and inclusion in project management.
Award Winner: GE Steam Power Systems Projects Team
The jury appreciates the long-term, sustainable approach that GE SPS undertakes in diversity management as part of their corporate culture following their motto: “Having a culture where all voices matter makes GE a smarter company”.
GE´s definition of diversity contains both geographic and gender diversity, but also diversity of experience, a diversity aspect that the jury appreciates particularly for project teams. This aspect of diversity includes different professional experiences, age, but also openness for lateral entrant employees and shows further important aspect of corporate diversity management, opening the organisation for different thoughts and problem solving technics. Elise en Matthias accepted the award on Steam Power System’s behalf.
Objectives of the Diversity in Project Management award:
- Identify good practices in diversity management in project management;
- Identify and award excellence in good practice application of diversity management in project management, projects, project teams and/or project organizations;
- Stimulate good practice diversity management in project management, projects and/or project organizations;
- Demonstrate and disseminate the effect of good practice diversity management on project management success.
